Haus of George presents ‘Audiovisual Techniques for Scoring Home Movies’, an album screening party for the debut record of composer and audiovisual artist GEORGE (b. 1993).

Set within a sitting room in ALICE BLACK, the screening marks the most recent presentation of a body of work revisiting home videos from the 1990s and 2000s, transforming their significance by sampling and composing music for them. The project asks what the practice of collecting, watching, editing, and scoring these videos reveals about the self and the culture that the artist grew up in. The screening features a woven collection of eighteen audiovisual portraits, coalescing the filmic peculiarities of ‘home movies’ and the inter-temporal dialogue of music sampling into what the artist calls “audiovisual autoethnography.”

The screening is accompanied by a showcase of naturally dyed rugs from the David Black Collection.
