ABOUT
ALICE BLACK is a London based art gallery, established in 2017. Initially working as a project space and itinerant exhibition programme, in 2022 the gallery formalised its roster and now represents seven post-war and contemporary artists working across a range of mediums and conceptual concerns. Our core aim is to support artists whose practices constitute materially driven investigations into the existential, socio-political and environmental realities of our global moment, whilst encouraging inclusive and generative artistic discourse in our audiences.
ALICE BLACK was co-founded by Alice Black and Matt Symonds. Alice is a member of the Development Committee at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London (ICA), a Mentor at the Sarabande Foundation established by the late Alexander McQueen and a visiting tutor at Goldsmiths, University of London (MFA). She is recognised by Forbes as a young leader in her field: Forbes 30 Under 30 Art & Culture (2020).
Represented artists; Rachael Bailey (b. 1975, UK); Ivan Black (b. 1972, UK), Dante Elsner (1920-1997, Poland), Matthew Harris (b. 1966, UK), Tristan Pigott (b. 1990, France), Amber Pinkerton (b. 1997, Jamaica) and Atalanta Xanthe (b. 1996, USA).
In March 2020 Forbes named Alice Black as one of their “30 under 30” to watch in European arts and culture.
