Artists are catalysts, conduits, commentators and communicators, their art feeds something in us that other aspects of existence cannot.

After months of planning and having had our lives reset by the upheaval of the pandemic, we are now very excited to announce our newly formalised roster of artists and the opening of our new central London gallery space, 46 Mortimer Street, London W1W 7RL in March 2022!
We are proud to now be representing Rachael Bailey (b. 1975), Ivan Black (b. 1972), Dante Elsner (1920-1997), Matthew Harris (b. 1966), Tristan Pigott (b. 1990), Amber Pinkerton (b. 1997) and Atalanta Xanthe (b. 1996) and to be joining the community of galleries that call Fitzrovia, home. We will continue to work fluidly and dynamically with our broader network of artist collaborators, whom we have had the privilege of working with over the last 4 years.
ALICE BLACK believes in supporting and empowering artists and engaging with local and international communities, from all walks of life, through art. We are driven by a desire to contribute to a forward-looking cultural discourse, while meaningfully acknowledging and building upon art history. Our aim is to create an exhibition programme which stimulates and communicates visually as much as it does intellectually. There is a strong socio, political and environmental dimension to our programme which stems from a wish to support and give a platform to artists who address the issues and challenges of our time. Our programme spotlights singular makers and original thinkers - those progressively pushing the bounds of their medium in order to distil, advance and give form to their individual conceptual enquiry. We see artistic skill, so often undervalued, not as a beginning and an end in itself, but as the vehicle and enabler which frees an artist to realise and develop his/her creative vision and to bring about a more direct communication with the viewer.
The Gallery is built upon a culture of cross-pollination, collaboration, and openness. It is an environment fed and watered by the ongoing input of our ever expanding community. Through a regular programme of exhibitions, talks and workshops, we strive to generate a fluid and inclusive culture. We take our planetary responsibility seriously and are committed to carrying out our work as sustainably as possible.
We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported and believed in us over the last 4 years! We can’t wait to welcome you to the new gallery.
